Last month I spent a good time in Asia. I would like to tell about this journey! After the long Russian winter, around 6 months, I took part in the first competition in Tyumen called Russian Championship.
This is really one of the most important competitions for all Russians including Russian government. It was organised on a very high level, much better than all previous championships! It was a pleasure to see the governor of Tyumen region, he is a really big boss here in Tyumen and Russia.
This competition started for me with a fall in the first qualification round! I was extremely angry, because all chances were going down in that moment. But, I am enough experienced to find the right way to setup myself for a good run. I did it and fixed on the 3rd position. After this case I was super confident in every round. Did my personal best in 1/2 and won the Russian Championship! So glad to get the medal from influential Tyumen people in front of home audience!
After one week I had the first World Cup-2018 and the 58th in my career. It was held in Moscow and went very well, but not for me. I did’t feel well, maybe I could’t have rest enough after Tyumen’s start.
I was emotionally wasted, that is why I made a mistake in 1/8 with Italian climber Ludovico Fossali. So sorry to be out of medalists in the Russian World Cup.
But after this disappointment I had fun talking and performing for the main Russian TV channel. It made me smile a bit!
Next stop was Tokyo, Japan and «Speed Stars»! I like this country with fresh air and kind people. Also I really respect local organisers with their zeal, which made «Speed Stars» just insane. At least once, every speed climber should visit Akishima district and take part in the competition.
All rounds I did well and deserved gold!
Had a really good time performing at 7 am for Japanese TV and very glad to have gold medal of this competition. After all, we had 5 days training and chilling there.
5 hours by plane and we came to Chongqing for my 7th time! I had a lot of memories there with the Russian crew, also I won there twice in 2013 and 2014, took silver in 2017. But this time I took only the 8th place. Unfortunately I could’t keep my speed in 1/4 and made a mistake with Aspar.
Actually this World Cup had lots of troubles with organization due the time keeping system. Practice took 3 hours, and qualification too! Time table for the final was changed, everybody was tired! Finally the comp was over!
After this world cup everyone was sure to have some practice before the next world cup, but all speed holds were removed…we really don’t know why. Many climbers just kept freestyle speed.
So, It was my trip to the biggest city in the world. Like this one!
New city in China for me! Tai’an. I already can’t count how many times I’ve been in China and how many cities I’ve visited. I think Tai’an is the 15th or the 16th city I’ve been to! It was a really short visit. The competition was accompanied by forecast +33 degree, very hot. That time I was more stable but not fast enough and took the 5th place.
I guess it was my maximum for spring World Cups! Can’t wait for the next comp and I’ll try to show my best!
After all I was highly excited to come to Indonesia for the first time! Just 10 days in another Asian country!
I fell in love with those really kind people and I think Indonesians are the friendliest people I’ve ever seen! I had fun surfing in Bali, exploring local climbing culture with an impressive climbing wall.

Took a rest in Gili island called Meno and after this came to city of Indonesian climbing team — Yogyakarta.
Indonesia is impressive country with many beautiful places and temples
No words needed to describe my feelings about Indonesian team! They did a lot for me! And I was so happy to be a part of them for a while!

We had fun time, definitely one of the best in my life! I’m not going to write a lot, because my video about this trip is coming soon! Just THANK YOU so much the team!
It seems to be a long long journey but I’m not yet done! Three days in China were my final destination. So, again new city in China was Ningbo! It’s located close to Shanghai. I took part in Elite Tournament and took only silver.
I was not ready to take gold because titled Chinese athletes and my friend Qixin Zhong were faster and more confident that time. I was happy to show my skills in front of Chinese spectators, it was a good practice for me. So, it’s time to be back and to focus on the upcoming world cups in Europe!
